Route for the day: Los Alercees National Park – Chaitén . Drive on a narrow dirt track along the banks of the turquoise River Fulaleufú. Border crossing from Argentina into Chile. Continue across the northern Carretera Austral to the Gulf of Corcovado. Overnight stay at the hostel.

Route for the day: Chaitén – Insel Chiloé. Drive along the Chilean section of the Panamerican Highway. Cross the main island of the archipelago. Visit the island city of Castro with its houses on stilts and remarkable wooden church. Overnight accommodation at a hostel in Ancud.

Itinerary for the day Chiloé Island – Largo Llanquihue. Morning boat trip, penguin spotting. In the afternoon, leave the island of Chiloé. Drive to the Chilean Lake District. Overnight campsite at the foot of the volcano Osorno.
