Route for the day: La Paz – Salar de Uyuni?. Drive through Oruro, beside Lake Poopó. The road continues Southward, following the Chicas mountain range to largest salt flat in the world, the Salar de Uyuni. Overnight camp on(!) the lake.

Route for the day: Salar de Uyuni – Laguna Colorada?. Drive over the 3,653 metre high salt pan to the Bolivian Altiplano. Drive on gravel trails alongside the Ollagüe volcan and past smaller salt pans with huge numbers of flamingos to the breathtaking Laguna Colorada. Overnight camp beside the lake.

Route for the day: Laguna Colorada – San Pedro de Atacama?. Journey onward across the Altiplano in Bolivia to the border with Chile. Border crossing formalities. Drive on towards San Pedro de Atacama. Visit to the world-famous Valley of the Moon near San Pedro de Atacama at sundown. Overnight stay at the hostel.
