Day 5

 

Route for the day: Macapá – Vila Velha
Drive through the Amapá region. The road leads alongside the largest national park in Brazil, Tumucumaque, to the Capo Orange National Park. Capo Orange is famed for its mangrove swamps, and the number and variety of rare and endangered animal species that call it home. Overnight camp close to the national park.

Day 6

 

Route for the day: Vila Velha – Oiapoque?
Onward journey on back roads through the far northeastern region of Brazil, inhabited by Amazon Indians. Destination for the day is the town of Oiapoque on the banks of the Oiapoque River, which separates Brazil from French Guyana. Evening meal together and hotel accommodation.

Day 7

 

Route for the day: Oiapoque – Cayenne?
In the morning, crossing the border from Brazil into French Guyana. Drive on the connecting road between French Guyana and Brazil - completed in 2004 - to the capital of French Guyana, Cayenne. Evening meal together and hotel accommodation.
