Drive to the Centre Spatial Guyanais (Guyana Space Centre), CSG for short – the French spaceport. Tour of the spaceport. Onward journey along the Atlantic Coast, past the Plage Les Hattes beach, one of the best-known breeding sites in world for the giant leatherback turtle. Overnight camping.

Route for the day: Awala Yalimopo – St. Laurent du Maroni
Short driving day on bumpy back roads, past the rustic village of Mana to the infamous St. Laurent du Maroni penal colony. Visit to a former prison camp. Overnight accommodation in hotel.

Route for the day: St. Laurent de Maroni – Brownsberg Nature Reserve ?
Border crossing into Suriname – the "beating heart of Amazonia". Drive through East Suriname to Paramaribo. Following the Suriname River southward into the mountainous Brownsberg Nature Reserve with its abundant diversity of tropical rainforest flora and fauna. Overnight stay at a simple guesthouse.

Route for the day: Brownsberg Nature Reserve – New Nickerie?
Drive back to the Atlantic Coast through densely forested Suriname, a country of dazzlingly diverse ethnic cultures. Even meal together and hotel accommodation in the modern border town of New Nickerie.
