From Cusco, the road leads into the relatively unknown Peruvian Highlands – through sleepy villages and in the shadow of imposing mountains. After a brief detour into the dense Amazon jungle, the expedition continues along the Panamericana to the Pacific Coast of Peru, until it reaches Nazca, famed the world over for the mysterious symbols in the ground here. From there, the road follows the footsteps of the Incas to the shores of Lake Titicaca.
